I have just rebuilt my old single bbl Model B Rochester for a 63' Chevy p/u. Problem is when you try to accelerate. You get hestitation and the a back fire out of the throat of the carb. Truck has been recently timed and new points and condensor put in. What could be the problem now. I do think that the throttle body on the carb is shot. Could this attribute to the popping? ![]() ![]() |

Did the accelerator pump have a weight & check ball? Last one I messed w/I lost the weight, had a hesitation. Found out it required a weight, added one to solve problem. Brian

Thanks.....
I rebuilt it from the ground up. Everything is back where it is supposed to be. Keep with it, eventually I'll get it right.

i could be way off, but back when my 62 had a 235 in it i had a problem kinda like that and it ended up just being a valve out of set ( the old 235 had a solid lifter cam so it didnt take much to make it act up)

Crab Help. Thanks
I have been told that it could be a sticky valve. I have run and oil change with a quart and a half of diesel through it. Getting better. Maybe I should just consider doing a valve job on it and see if that takes care of it. Thanks for the lead.
