Edelbrock 1406?
Do you guys use the ported or non-ported port for the distrubitor advance vaccum? Does it make a difference? I'm not sure which one to hook it to.

On both of my trucks I have it hooked to the non ported one. The one on the right of the PVC connection.

Yes it does matter. I use both. It all depends on the initial timing. I use ported port for city and daily driving. At the track, I use the manifold. Using the manifold allows the timing to come up faster.
Try both. Do you plan on using an adjustable vacuum advance at the distributor? |

Its just my stock HEI distributor. I'm running out of $$ so I cant afford a new one right now. Thanks for the help guys, I hope to fire it up next weekend. I was hoping for tomorrow, but I got absoutely nothing done today except for picking up my new battery.

The non-ported fitting will give you the vacuum to get your distributor advance early, so it is a good choice, if you use your engine to hot foot it a little. The ported fitting allows the vacuum to build slowly and thus keeping your advance inset slower and allows for a milder driving style. YOUR CHOICE

Since you are starting it up, hook it up to the manifold. Once you tune and break-in (?) the engine you can change the connection.

Well had I bothered to look at the manual with it earlier I would have known. It states that the ported one is for vechiles with emissions controls, non-ported for without. So that answered my question right then. I'm gonna go with the non-ported hook up. I might try both and see which one I like better.
