I was wondering how to check/refill the oil in my A/C compressor. It's acting like it might be starting to lock up and wanted to check/refill oil if possible and see if that helps. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I don't think the oil in the refrigerent will fix the compressor problems. It is a small amount and is added when the refrigerent is put in. Is it possible the clutch on the compressor is going away?

You might want to hook up a set of gauges to check the pressures. The compressor does have a small ammount of initial fill, and the refrigerant in the system both help to lube the compressor . If you pull the compressor fill plug you will also loose your refrigerant charge. I suspect the erratic operation could be traced down to a compressor which is about to go or clutch problems like beaterC10 said. You could always put in an oil charge to see if it helps.

The compressor has an initial 3oz. oil in it. There is no fill or drain plug so you have to open the system to air to do it.
