gear shift selector doesnt work
I'm new to classic chevys, just got my first 79 about a month ago. On my steering column its like the gear selector is not connected or something. Is there alot involved in fixing this. I have a 79 and and 81 steering column available for parts, would prefer to use the 81 if its interchangeable, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you meaning that the shifting arm is loose and does nothing to the tranny, or does the indicator not work?

check the sleeve on the steering column. It attaches with teeth; slides up into another piece. Mine is broken, too. The teeth are all broken. I just used some electrical tape to tape it together. Be sure to use electrical tape because its black and doesn't look to goofy, or you can buy another collar.
