I have been wrong before, but it seems like I saw one of these on Ebay a few months ago. The ones I saw were special edition for the forest service and fire departments. From the looks of this one it may fit the bill. It's pretty awesome looking, snatch it up...keep us posted!

That's either a 3/4 or a 1 ton 9ft stepside. I know dtilly has one. These are pretty rare trucks, too.

I think all the 3/4 ton 4wds were long beds. Ask Jerry Moss.

There was a board member a while back, don't remember the name, that has a 3/4 ton SWB fleet, I don't know anything about it like if it was factory or custom, just saw the pics. Anybody remember seeing it?

All 3/4 ton trucks were 8 1/2 foot beds except some special ones theat were modified after production. aka forestry. There were no one tons buiilt with 4 wheel drive untill after 72.
That is either a 1/2 ton with 3/4 ton gear under it, or a chopped up 3/4 ton...either way, it'll ride like total crap. The short frame will be way too stiff, it won't absorb any kind of bumps like a long frame would. |

Any one eldse notice the turn signals in the grill, instead of in the bumper. I agree, I wouldn't be suprised if he built or modified that one.

KS20904 and KE20904 are valid model numbers litsted for 1967hrough 1972, and they all have a wheel base of 127" associated with them.
A close look at the frame should tell you whether it is 3/4 or a 1/2 frame. If it's a 3/4T long bed chopped down to a short wheel base, you should see the results of the frame shorting.

I'm suprised no one noticed,it has 67 back fenders(or bed) with a 71or2 cab.I would say it's home built.I never saw a SB 3/4 ton in 2or4wd.I would still buy it though if you can.Good luck!

Hmm...maybe it's just me, but I would be leery of buying a vehicle that had its frame hacked. Check the frame real good. It does look pretty neat. But I bet that thing will beat your fillings out and give your kidneys a good workout, with 3/4 ton springs and a swb.

The 71 GMC 4X4 short bed that I sold to HuggerCST earlier this year was a factory short bed, but added 3/4 ton axels and suspension. I would not say it rode rough at all. Even doing 80mph on the interstate, it rode clean and stayed in it's own lane without fighting the steering wheel.
67cst, I'd check out the frame where the steering box is located. They are notorious for cracking the frame just behind the box. Also, make sure the transfer case works and the lock outs operate as it can get real expensive when rebuilding a TC. |

I have a SWB 4x4 with 3/4 ton running gear (not original of course). I added a lift kit with new front springs and reused the original rear 1/2 ton springs with blocks. It does not ride like a longer wheelbase truck. However, I would not categorize the ride as total crap. If anything, it rides better since I replaced all of the bushings and now it has big 3/4 ton disc brakes up front as a bonus. I drove it on a 2,000+ trip and it road great the entire journey (other than smoking my front bearings and welding one of them to the spindle ).

I think longhorn man meant that the ride would be rough only if the frame was indeed an original lwb 3/4 t with 3/4 t springs cut down to swb length, which we came to find out it was.
if it was a stock 1/2 ton swb frame with 1/2 t springs and 3/4t axles, it would ride no different than stock, but it would brake better.

Buy it -- pending looking over the frame shorting job. There is nothing wrong with a *properly* done frame shorting/lengthen.

well guys, i went and looked at it tonight, seems to run good and the diffs/ transfer case all work fine but it had a lot more rust then i though, and the frame shortening job was a bit sketchy, i think my best bet is to find an original lwb truck that has minimal rust and shorten it myself when the right time comes...so if anyone in my area knows of anything feel free to give me the heads up! thanks guys
