What is reason for black OR woodgrain lower trim on our blazers? Was it an option? My '71 CST 2wd has woodgrain (no woograin in the interior),... and my old '72 2wd had black. (not a CST) Can anyone tell me why there were two choices?

Good question!

I was never a fan of the woodgrain on my '72 CST. I bought new black moulding and took a new tailgate band and removed the woodgrain and painted it black to match. I had woodgrain on the door panel inserts and have see in for the instrument bezel, the glove box door and the ash tray face.

I'm curious to know if the tailgate bands were ever available in black.

I thought that CST had the woodgrain and non-cst with trim had the black. My first '72 was a CST and it had woodgrain. My current '72 isn't a CST and it has black without a tailgate band. Consistancy wasn't high point with Chevy in those days, so I just don't know.

Anyone have a used door moulding. Woodgrain or black would be ok. I don't want to buy new moulding until it's time to paint my Blazer. I don't mind paying a little for now. It looks bad with one peice missing.

My CST had wood grain on the glove and dash i'v been chipping away at. Originally had the woodtrim on the tail gate, the PO said he had it too, and to give him a call for it, but i never wanted it so i never got it. Mine's been re-painted so my outer trip is black. You can see the pin holes in my tailgate from where the wood trim screwed in.

Sounds good, but in my case I am eliminating woodgrain completely. My Tangier Orange Blazer came originally with woodgrain trim, aluminum & chrome molding & bumpers, a white top, black dash pad & carpet along with white vinyl. I love the original, but I am going to switch everything over to black except for the top.

My opinion is that the woodgrain has seen better days and the black will give my Blazer a retro, but updated style.

This is one of those "cut the dash or don't cut the dash" kind of discussions. I like the woodgrain and it adds one more element of retro '70's style that I love.

Has anyone ever used that adhesive woodgrain tape to restore their trim pieces? How does it match the original?
