lifting my 76 2wd
continuing this over from a previous thread, what can i do to get the most amount of lift on my 76 2wd custom deluxe?

Probably with what I am thinking of doing.
2.5" suspension lift 3" body lift and then to level it go with front coil spacers That is if it will all fit since somebody on here said they could see fitting just the 2.5" lifted springs by themselves. You could get another 1.5" of lift from using the Fabtech 4" lift but thats like $1500 more than the Skyjacker 2.5" lift. So the most you can get for insane money is 7" not counting coil spacers to level it out. For smart money 5.5" not counting coil spacers. This is without going custom from what I have found.

yeh im thinking about doing the 5.5" with spacers so hopefully end up with close to 7. i already started with the body last night. got the bed lifted. wasnt too painful. another consideration im having is just buying 2" blocks for the rear (found a set on ebay for 10$) and then putting HD springs and spacers in the front with new shocks. not sure how much that will mess up my alighnment though.

gris, since i dont want to "hijack" someone elses thread i will answer your question here.
since i have not put a lift kit on mine its still consitered stock and ride great. I dont consider the HD (not sure if those are considered 1 tons or not) were a stock option i dont considered it anything more than stock. I dont plan on using a current aftermarket lift. I am designing my own lift but wont be able to make it for quite awhile and by the time its done, most everyone here probably will be gone by then. i am totally redesigning the front suspension. if i do anything i will most likely hack the fenders and run 35"s...i havent seen an aftermarkert lift kit that really increases suspension travel, mostly just lifts it for larger tires.. I could care less about hijacking threads. anything anyone wants to put about 2wd lifts are more than welcome here. the more thoughts and ideas i can get the better.

when using lift/lowering blocks in the rear do i need round or square u bolts?

depends what side the plate for the u-bolts is on...you will just need the same kind that is on there now, round.... you just need them longer thats all..
