How can this be?
I was looking for inner fenders for my truck. I looked in LMC and they want 39.95 a piece for steel ones. I also looked at classic chevrolet parts and they sell them for 199.95 a piece for fiberglass ones. Would the fiberglass be better then the steel ones? I know that fiberglass wont rust but what other advantages are there?

I dunno about "advantages", but if those suckers get hit with a rock thrown off the tires....GOODBYE!! I'd stick with the steel ones.

I"m gonna go with goodmark personally. They are better quality than LMC, plus they are not shipped halfway across the world. They have alot of stuff for our trucks. New door shells for $115, GM certified fenders for $150. I think the inners are 50-60 I cant remember.

I asked Goodmard where their fenders were made and they said "Overseas", so I'd imagine their other sheetmetal is too. I can't vouch for the quality as I've never used them. Captkaos (Chris) in this forum could tell you more as I understand he's a Goodmark dealer. I'm reluctantly (very reluctantly) putting aftermarket bedsides and fenders on my rig. The body shop is getting them out of a company in MA called ATLAS, I think. I looked at a sample bedside and was surprised at the quality...it isn't GM, but it's pretty good. JonBoy recommended www.keystone-auto.com. They have a Platinum Plus line that he's had good luck with.
Fiberglass vs. Steel? Steel hands down. You have to remember that the inner fender helps support the fender and will flex more than you realize. Fiberglass won't tolerate flexing as well as steel and 'glass gets brittle when it gets cold! Put in steel and undercoat it well! Last edited by 1987SierraClassic; 10-03-2004 at 08:42 AM. I never seen any mass produced fiberglass fenders that lined up well with the rest of the body and didnt shake badly when going down the road

I think Goodmark has been selling overseas stuff for our trucks and is slowly making them thereselves. The fenders were just GM certified this year I beleive. I have one of their hoods on my S10 and I like it. Good quality and it fit decent, it needed a little tweaking, but what aftermarket parts dont??

Goodmark doesn't make any of their products. Tri-Plus makes them using a stamp/die that Goodmark specified and only has rights to sell. All the products I have seen are made overseas and the majority is made by Tri-Plus. Their 73-87 fenders are not GM certified, but they are a different design than everyone else has.
As for parts needing tweaking, the last set of fenders I got from GM needed tweaking, so..... Thanks for the plug Brandon!

FWIW, here is a picture of the Goodmark hood and fenders on my 73. The inners are in there, too.
Edit: sorry the pictures are so dark. The doors are aftermarket too,(they were already on the truck when I got it) and everything fit together decently well.
