My project
I know it is not a 73-87 but here is my money pit. I currently have it torn down for the big block swap. My daily driver is an 85 swb. I am currently going to college and work part time in the construction business.

Well, I've been hanging round here for a bit. I'll go ahead and show/tell ya my "stuff"
I live in the Iowa. Land of the cancerous vehicles. I think they spread salt on the roads here even in the summer... just to make sure. 32 yr old desk jockey during the day with a wife and a daughter. Long-time owner of 93 Ford Festiva used for my 90 mile commute to work. The Festy is affectionately named the "Deerslayer" due to its multiple collisions with Bambi's. Amazingly it still runs. Looks like hell... but runs. I occasionally have to beat on the fenders and hood with hammer and crow bar (delicate tweaking) to get them to work. Recent owner of a 86 C-10 LWB 305. Purchased from a fella in FL that left it sitting in his backyard for a couple of years. He thought the engine was shot. First time I looked at it I noticed a couple of spark plug wires were bad. Came back out with some other wires and a battery and it started right up and ran real good. Went up to his house and told him I would get it off his property for $900 dollars... He said deal. You shoulda seen his face when I went screaming down his driveway a few minutes later. My mom and stepdad live down in FL and I found the truck during a 2 week vacation to visit family. Step dad has a body shop and he slapped a decent paint job on it. Truck is in pretty good shape. Odometer shows 41,xxx miles and no rust thanks to the lovely FL weather. I need to get it rust-proofed shortly before winter hits up here in IA. It needs lots of little things nothing major. Probably will take me awhile though with a daughter who goes out for every sport and an old house needing lots of repairs. Just got some new rallys and tires for it I need to get mounted (so please excuse the ugly spray-bombed wheels and skinny tires in the pics... they're soon to be spares). Anyway, here's some pics. |

Hi my name is Jeff, I live in Houston Texas. I work as a Mech. sheetmetal designer in the oil field industry. I have been working on my 1980 GMC Serria Grande for about 6 years now. I completely rebuilt the engine, transmisson, drive line. In the last few months I had it painted and next on the list is the interior. Here are some pictures of the process.

This is a great time to post a pic as I just got the truck back from the paint shop. It's Sikkens 2000 Corvette Nassau Blue with a silver lower valance and House of Color blue Marbleized center stripe. All the pin stripes are hand painted. There's a few more pics on my web page (there's a link below). I'll be updating it regularly as the assembly continues. Next stop is stereo shop for the install before going to the upholster'.

Hey board, fairly new member that really enjoys all the useful info on this site. This is my rig. Its a daily driver and gets pounded every day up and down I-75. Affectionately know as Big Bird, it sports all the standard Scottsdale trim for the 79 model year. Upgrades include chrome alloys, Alpine cd deck, cb radio and of course dual exhuast.
