I guess it's not that all different than MPH but man, that just looks so weird because of what I'm now used too. Thanks for sharing those Pics!

I soooo want that set up. All you have to do is slow the speedo down X% and it'll read proper MPH but be a 160 speedo.
Any chance you have seen them in the junkyard?

thanks Mats - thats too cool. SO if i slow my speedo by 40% or so (1 kilometer = .666 of a mile) then i have a kilo spedo!? thats too esay

I would bet there is no difference in the speedo itself...the only difference is the lense with the numbers on it. you would have to change the gears in the trans to make it read correct.....You could get one of the aftermarket venders to make those if enough people asked

My life is now complete, I always knew those exsisted but never saw one. Put me inline for one too. I not so sure that they used the same speedo head though, if you take a look at a speedo that is out of the cluster at the top of it there is stamped a miles part number and a kilo part number. Although the position of 100 on the kilo speedo is at the same point at the miles speedo and 100kmh = 60 mph.

If you guys wanted one bad enough you could always get your lens rescreened.

Does anyone know wich vehicles to search for this speedometer in?
Is it only the 67-72 Chevy/GMC trucks or is there maybe some other that could have the same speedo?

These trucks are not very common over here so if there is optional vehicles like other year trucks or van or anything else to search for the speedo in the change find something would increase.

I have noticed wich ones of you who is interested if I find something.
I belive the change to really find something isnÂ´t very big but I sure will try.

The lens is only on 67 - 72 gm trucks. I think the actual guages are the same too.
The lens is really all I want...all the others probably want the whole set up. i plan on working evil magic, they just want a metric speedo.

The speedo heads are for sure different, they have different part numbers in my book and I just called and they are NLA

I am also checking on a 69-72 lens, the number comes up at the dealership and the guy is checking with GM in the US to see if they are still available. There are other part numbers for 67-68 kilo lens and all the diffrenent configurations so if anyone wants the PN to check it out for themselves let me know.

Possibly the only difference in the heads is the line markings on the black part, they have to correnspond to the numbers on the lens.

That's too cool! Does the odometer registers miles or kilometers? That would be the only difference, and it would have to be internal to the speedo to do that.

back in the early '80's I worked for a supplier that tried selling an inline adaptor that made MPH speedo's convert to Kph speedo's.. People were reluctant to buy them because it made the odomoter turn faster too. this made it very difficult to verify the actual miles on a vehichle. when these trucks were originally made we in Canada were still using Miles & stuff. It wasn't till well after 1977 that we finally got smart and switched to metric. I know cause I got my liscence in 77, and my first few speeding tickets were in MPH. I'd be willing to bet a beer that those speedo's were for export vehichles bound for countries with the metric system when they were built
