Tranny Problem
THe 400 turbo is acting up. I am back to square one. The original problem was that if you put it in drive it would not shift out of 1st unless you went from D to N or D to L2 after that as long as you didnt take it outta gear it would shift fine. I changed the fluid and filter, governor, and vac modulator. It seems to be getting worse now because sometimes I have to shift the tranny twice to get it out of first. Anyone got any ideas on what else I can do beside bite the bullet and take it to the tranny man?
Thanks

sound like either the linkage out of adjustment like Ron said or there is a piece of sludge etc. stuck in valve body.

Ron I am pretty sure that tranny linkage is adjusted properly but I am willing to double check it. What would be the best way to do that?
Longhorn Man. I have a vac meter how much should it be getting? I did the pull off technique and it had vac. Thanks

sounds like there could be some crap stuck inside the valve body holding valves open and not letting them close when they need to

As long as there is vacuume, then the mod should work.
