pics. exhaust routing over 6" drop axle.
Has anyone routed exhaust out the rear with 6" rear drop coil spring rear with early classic super track bar? 67-72 trucks?
any pictures would be a big help. Thanks RodsbyT....... |

Well, it's not exactly what you were looking for, but it is a 5" drop with an adjustable trac bar. But I think you can see what needs done on the drivers side to clear a super trac bar (the whole piece moved toward the front of the truck). Passenger side looks like it would easily clear. This is an LMC rear exit kit.

very tight clearance my track bar goes all the way to the pass. side control arm. your right thou the drivers side is what ive been fighting. thanks again RodsbyT..... |

This is the same system I will be using when this thing goes back together, and I will also be using the super trac bar then too. I will just need to shorten the pipe the goes over the axle at the back of the muffler about 3/4" - 1" and it should work fine. Passenger side is no problem with either bar.

Does your LMC kit pipes hang way below the frame after the trans crossmember?
I have had a bad time with the local shops bend pipes. |

They were actually too snug to the trans x-member, and I had to tweek them a little to get them to hang 1/2" - 3/4" lower. All in all, the kit fit really nice.

I don't know fellows, I'd like to see a picture of this myself.
My 454 needs 2.5 exhaust and there is no way I could get the pipes over the axle with my 6 inch drop and super track bar. I wound up just dumping in front of the axle, which I hate.

I got 2.5 exhaust all the way out with my ECE 6inch drop. Will post pics soon.

Im curous to see this as well. My exhaust now is dumped at the rear with a minor drop but its already tight and i was thinking i wanted to go bigger with my pipes and drop the rear ALOT more. If the bed was raised would this eliminate some of the clearance problems or is it just a trac bar issue? TX firefighter, i know a real good exhaust guy in Keller if your looking for someone local who makes great bends.

This is tricky. I have Duramax short headers, and basically I've tried many different exhaust set-ups the best I found is this cutting a 4" hole in the side of the frame welding in a 4" schedule 80 pipe for support(sort of at a angle), and going the the outside of the frame right away. I have the CCP bolt in rear c-notch, with the bump stops in and the exhaust is tight up against the bottom of the bead floor and touches the rear end, when aired out. I will have pictures soon. I plan on removing the bump stops and making a small tub for the exhaust to go up in. I like rear exit exhaust. So it's all worth it to me.

im getting my exhaust ran out through the back bumper, but everything will be above the frame, under my tranny crossmember, through my trailingarm crossmember, over my trailing arms, over my rear axle, under the notch, back down and under the frame, then out the bumper... i lay frame so cant have it hanging... ill get pics asap

I wonder.Would routing the pipes through where the pic shows (hope you don't mind glock) maybe allow more clearance and eliminate the track bar issue?

i believe it would help, but then im not sure, but my panel the gas tank is there, so that would be a problem... if you have a cab gas tank or a fuel cell, should work great.

This is an 84, but, I have 3" exhaust ran, and it clears with my cab on the rocker. The exhaust goes all the way to the bumper, then is angle cut so you cant see it........ come to think of it, I lay exhuast tip too. ROFL |

that's quite a hole you have going on there.......what's your plans? one solid tub accross the whole bed? interested in this too, i plan on setting my truck on the frame at shows with bags, way down the road, got a some bodywork to do before i worry about that.....

Uh, thanks for noticing. LOL I will use regular aftermarket steel wheel tubs, and rolled Suburban ribbed floor for the middle of the bed, welded in, and ground down smooth, so it looks like the bed floor is bubbled up. SHHHHHHH, dont tell anyone. |

Here's mine I need to tub for the X-haust to go any lower, and keep rear exit X-haust flex pipe is temporary!
