Lower A arm replacement

Can I just replace the lower A arm on my truck, or do I have to replace both upper and lower as a set? I want to replace the stock lower arm with a tubular one, to gain clearance. ’81 SWB

Some tubular are designed to be put on in sets, check the manufacturer for that. Otherwise no, you can just change upper or lower.
