Frame

I believe it will be much easier to convert a 69-72 4x4 frame to 2x4 than it will be to use a 73 and later frame. The last one Tim did required a couple of holes to be drilled and every thing else went pretty smooth. You'd need the 2x4 parts from another truck.

For starters, you may want to check wheel base. I believe 69-72 Blazers are shorter than 67-72 SWB trucks. I haven't measured 73 and later pickup frames, but I'm thinking your Blazer will be shorter than them as well.

If that works out, you might want to check the body mount location and types. You may need the ones off your old Blazer frame to mount to the late model frame if the wheel base turns out ok.

Finally, there's been a lot of discussion here in the past on this subject. You may want to read back though the archive. If memory servers, the general opinion is 'don't do it'. Just my $.02

DUNO - The short bed truck frame is longer than your blazer frame. And the body probably will need a body lift under it because of the conture of the frame even if it was shortened. It would be best if you can find a actual 2WD blazer frame 69-72. I know a few guys have converted their existing frame. Some convert the rear to trailing arms, but you could leave the leaf spring setup. Hope this helps. Jason

I don't know were you are but I have a spotless 72 blazer 2w/d rolling frame w/disc brakes from NC now in NY for $500. You might have to take the rusty body sitting on it too though. The nice body is now on my 4w/d. I also run from here to NC with a trailer if you might be on the way
