I posted a couple pics here http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php3?t=134456 of the power mirrors I got for Christmas.The wheels are old American Racindg 200's.They were put on a 1972 Cheyenne truck in 1973 by El Mor chevy in Morgantown Pa.It was a left over that they wanted to get off the lot because the new models were out.A friend bought the truck.The truck was destroyed in a wreck 10 years ago.When Mitch passed away in '99,I bought the wheels.He wouldn't sell them when he was a live.

Sweet! Are they the 96 or so F*rd mirrors? I was thinking of the S.Steel Chevy Van mirrors for mine(looks like the 87 C10 mirrors but power) Hey, have you seen the silver 67' C10 LWB and the 72' Sub for sale on Boot Rd near Rt. 100 & Pottstown Pike???? $10G on the burb & $8G on the p/u, ouch......Supposed to be rust free Cali burb & I think it was a Carolina p/u.

Yes,they are off 92-96's.The mirrors have a support arm that needed a couple inches cut off.I then used a 1" hole saw for the support arm and wires.When mounted on the curve below the window,the mirrors set level with the ground.They look better on the suburban than the bronco my wife drives.I am going to paint the black body color when I paint the suburban this spring.My wife works for the dealer on 30 outside of Exton.I havn't seen them in the daylight.He had or has a FJ40 that is supposed to be rust free.I looked at it.He must have ment the rust is free!It has lots of bubbles under the fresh paint.I live about a mile off the Downingtown side of Boot.

I love that upgrade, even if they are from a F*&$.

Tons o' questions:

Where did you route the wires to?
Did you mount a remote switch?
If so, where is it mounted?
Can you use the switch/rocker thing from the Ford?
Did you have to shim the post where it connects to the door to make them level w/the ground?

Right now the power is not hooked up.i bought a mirror switch for a 98 ford van.It is a small square switch that I will mount in my center console.i ran the wires thru the door and to the center of the dash.The console is a custum unit that fits under the dash.The guy I bought the suburban from was a cabinet maker.He made the console and an overhead piece that runs from the windshield to the rear air unit.The mirrors did not need to be shimmed.The suburban is having a new trans put in,when I get it back I will post pics.

I have been looking for simular mirrors due to towing needs. I have seen the mirrors on the F&#*'s and always wondered.

For the power is it just 12 v and ground? I already have Power windows/door locks and speaker wires. The ol' wire loom is full.

I am using a switch from a e-150 van.It is square,and switches between left and right.They are power mirrors.

Here is a pic of the switch I will use unless I can find something nicer.I haven'tchecked into it yet.The switch will be mounted in the custom console,between the seats.

No,not really.You can move them slowly and carefully.They make the same mirror in manual.

Was the mounting for the passenger side the same locatoin. Approx 7 inches in from the door edge and the same spacing down from the window?

Yes,both mirrors are in the same spot.I used a hole saw for the mirror arm,and then adjusted the mirror till it set level with the ground.Then I marked the holes for the mounting screws.

sorry for the rather large bump, but i want to do this on my 72 c10 and have a few questions. do the mirrors leak at all on the inside? i know they have gaskets, but it looks like yours are mounted right on that edge. also do the vent windows function the same? there's no interference with the mirrors right? and just wondering are the manual versions movable by hand because they have an adjuster that mounts on the inside but i don't think that'll match the width of my door so i might have to cut that off. thant's all for now, thanks.

No they don;t leak and yes the vent works like it should,no interference.There is an arm on the power mirrors that needed cut off,to fit inside the door.I don't know about the manual ones.
