Replacing front spindle.
I am going to be replacing a spindle on my 1967 C10 soon.
Just curious how difficult this may turn out to be? I have a ball joint fork and all the tools I think I am going to need, I am just looking for some pointers. Any suggestions? Thanks!! [This message has been edited by johnymac (edited 06-05-2001).] |

Why are you replacing the spindle? These don't just ware out??
Wrap a chain around the spring-loose so that it can expand, yet tight so that it doesn't fly out of the pocket!!! Put a jack securely under the lower control arm. Loosen the ball joint nuts a bit, whack the pickle fork a few times on upper and lower so that both ball joints loosen up (allowing the spring to do the work) unbolt the lower ball joint nut and SLOWLY let the jack down. This is easy once you get the hang of it. Don't use the pickle fork unless you are replacing ball joints too. The fork tears the crap out of the boots. If you are replacing the ball joints. Remember the lower has to be pressed in by a shop unless you have a press. Just a reminder cause my buddy tore his down on a sunday and guess what no shops open on sunday.
