HEI Power Wire

Can someone with a 75-85 Chevy with a HEI tell me if the power wire to the HEI is fussed and if so what size. Im redoing the power wire to mine and Im running it streight to the Battery with a relay and would like to fuse it. Its in a 70 so I have no idea what size fuse to use.

I've never seen a fuse on any HEI equipped trucks, they just have a wire strait from the ignition switch to the distributor. The HEI doesn't draw many amps, but it does need a full 12V to it. On the trucks that I converted to HEI, I just used one of the "IGN-UNFUSED" terminals in the fuse block and they worked great. You can put a relay if you like, but I really don't think it's necessary. I've seen guys that even used the resistor wire for the point distributor to run an HEI and never had a problem so they can't draw that much power. Best of luck.
