Pics of a "68" with 88-up step bed and squared off front wheelwells
Found this truck on ebay just now, and I know a lot of people wonder what our trucks would look like with the squared off openings to match the 88-up stepside bed. Personally I think the guy should have gone the other way and rounded off the step bed wheelwells, but it's a nice looking truck either way. I wonder if Josh has seen it...it's in Midland, TX.

I actually really like it. It's kinda got that modern/retro theme going on that is so poplular right now. The newer side view mirrors help the look out too!

I knew something was odd with it when I saw the little preview thumbnail on ebay. Ive always wondered what it would look like, I knew one would turn up someday.... I wonder what the step bed would look like with rounded wells, that's gonna drive me nuts now.

FOG LIGHTS LOOK LIKE A$$ UNDER THST ROLLPAN
COOLEST THING I EVER SAW WITH ONE OF THESE BEDS, A KIT FROM EAST COAST CUSTOMS OUT OF NASHVILLE, IT REMOVED THE REAR STEP SECTIONS AND CAME WITH ALL THE FILLER PARTS AND A ROLLPAN, LOOKED LIKE A FRICKIN DUALLY FROM BEHIND, I THOUGHT IT WAS

Not sure if that is the way I would go, but I have to admit, it looks better than I would have imagined it. The fog lights definately suck IMO though.

i appreciate the effort, but i still like round openings. rectangle openings never really made sense to me. tires are round, not square. i can see where when you turn, the clearances change, but those of us with round openings dont seem to have much problem with that, especially with 4x4

Interesting. Better than I would have thought. I hate the running boards on those however. Now Longhair...that looks good but I wonder what it would look like without those ugly running boards front and rear? Can you shave the steps and just allow the fenders to fair into the box but maintain the small body feature around the fender and on the box to match the cab?

I like it. Looks like the cowl has been shaved as well, it was definately done right. The only problem I see is that you couldn't lower it any more than that because the squared off wheel opening would interfere with the turn radius.

Oh yeah! Now that is what I'm talkin bout! Much much better. Now try shaving the rear steps, add a roll pan and take a look. I believe you will have it then. Thanks Longhair.

Wow, when I read the title I thought "wow that will be fugly!" but seeing the pic of the squared fenders actually looks pretty darn good, much better than the rounded rear ones on a newer bed
