Headers question....
Welp it appears that the headers I have are going to hang below the frame...I heard a couple years ago that Chevelle headers fit without any mods and don't hang below the frame...anybody know if this is true? If not what are you guys running, manifolds or headers? I really don't want to buy another set of headers (this is my second set...long story) I'll have to look, maybe a crossmember drop can get me what I need.

If you do captkaos's method the engine won't be any higher in the frame. I have a set of mid-length headers for a chevelle that fit with only minor clearancing on the pass. side motor mount tower. I'll look up the part number I used

I have a 72 longbed and I had long tubes on it and iwas just eating through them like they where nothing. now i use headmans s10/350 headers and they work great no mods at all

Hey if you want good headers you got to buy Lemons Headers. They can make any set for any application. Unfortunately if you do not feel like driving out to California the only set not custom built is the 73-87 big block chevy. I know I work there. We make anything better than those junky headman or hooker headers. A bit pricey but well worth the money. Check us out at lemonsheaders.com

Thanx for the heads up...but I think $1070 for a set of headers is a little out of budget for this project (and prolly any project I'll ever do) Looks like a good quality for someone who is in the market for something like that...

I found the part number for my headers... They are Dynomax Shorty headers for a 64-88 Chevelle. I bought the painted set which is part # 85118 (Summit has them for $115) or you can get the ceramic coated ones which is part # 86118 (Summit price $239). With these headers and holes cut in my trailing arm x-member, the only place my exhaust goes below the bottom of the frame is to dip below the factory style auto tranny linkage, but I'm about to fix that...

Thanx for the info smbrouss...the set that's on it are dynomax ceramic, maybe they work on my '88 after the frame is z'd....this things turning into a money pit again Any pics of what you had to do to get them to clear the engine mount? What are you doing to your linkage?

Dynomax's for Chevelle/Malibu mounted on one of "our trucks" with NO modifications ... simple bolt on ... passenger side ...
