I may have posted this to the wrong board? Wanting to change out the brake shoes but Im sure the axel is not stock. Any idea what axel this drum came off of? Its not stock for my 64 or 68 and Im in a pickle trying to get parts. Its a 12 bolt pumpkin. Anyway I can tell what parts to buy without knowing what it came out of?

Got it...
Andy is this good enough or do you need a pic of the rear with the 12 bolts in it? Glenn

hmmm, why do you think it's not original...been a while since I looked at a coil rear, but IIRC, it looked something very much like that.
On a side note, your 89 town car, remove the hood before you junk the car, the hood is worth more since it is alluminum. You may have to remove the frame underneath, but I suspect it'd still weigh a good bit. |

look over your rear axle good and see if you can find 2 or 3 letters stamped somewhere on it and post them here and i'll see if i can cipher the code to tell you what axle you have.

Why are there 2 pads on each side to mount the trailing arms to?

Andy it might be stock but from everything else I see on the truck it makes me belive it isnt. IE its a 5 lugger and I thought these had 6. On the drivers side of the axle there is a C stamped into the top and on the passengers side there is a 4 diget number...which I cant recal. Ill get that this afternoon.

sorry, I couldn't find anything on those numbers. As best as I can remember the letters should be stamped on the passenger axle tube kind of toward the front.
