i just got my new 80 k10 on the road but its not quite running right. im pretty sure the float is set too high. I pulled the numbers off the carb to get the float specs and this is what i got, 17059065. the second 0 tells me that it is a single barrel but its a 4. could someone either make sence of that number or tell me what the float should be set too? Thanks

you are probably better off getting a kit anyway, if you are going to open it up. that number you gave came up as a 1979 pontiac manual trans. the emmission code of "0" i believe should've been a 2 or 5. However, after looking it up for you in a chilton manual, the carb number comes up as the following settings...
15/32 float level .015 air dashpot 13/32 inner pump rod .314 initial choke valve opening .129 vacuum break .277 choke unloader 7/8 air valve spring return hopefully you got the casting number from this location as in the picture... http://www.carburetion.com/images/carbid/roch7.jpg you may also want to epoxy the well plugs while it's a part. there is a thumbnail on the right hand side to expand to get a closer look if you do not know what i'm talking about... http://www.carcraft.com/howto/57178/index.html

According to the number you listed in your post, the carb came out of a Pontiac with a manual transmission. It was a monojet, built to federal standards and was produced in 1979. I would check the number again. According to the link that badone gave you the 9 refers to the year produced, the 0 refers to the monojet, 6 is for pontiac motor div., and 5 means manual trans.

The number dosent quite make sense, but i double checked it and cleaned it with steel wool, and that is what is stamped on the carb. thank you badone07 for the specs. The guy i bought the truck from said the carb was fresh and it looks it too, so i should be able to pop the top off with out dinking the gasket, that way i dont have even remove it from the truck
