What Do I Need?

I have a 79 blazer W/ auto trans that came without a rear drive shaft . When I went to a salvage yard and told them I needed this rear shaft , 33 inches in length and that my yokes were the fixed type at "both" ends , they gave me a drive shaft the right length but it is solid with no slip joint on the shaft . I do not see how I can use a solid shaft with both yokes being fixed . What did they use on these blazers ? What do I need ? Thanks .

79 Blazer should have either a 205 or a 203 in it. both transfer cases are fixed yoke, so adding a slip yoke is out of the question.

My fault, I should have put 4X4 , we do have a lot of 2X 's on here . I'm going back tomorrow and see if they can give me one with a slip joint built in to the shaft . The problem with most of the yards around here is they have a policy of no cash refunds / exchange only , so it's no skin off of their nose if you get the wrong part and if you go back and they do not have the right part they always have some excuse why its not their mistake and saying check some other time for your exchange or you might get a credit slip but still have to buy the part some place else if you need it now .

They gave you a shaft that is PART of a slip yoke assembly. Just give them all hell and if they screw you take the shaft and throw it at them. Or maybe hit one of the bigger employees ove rthe head with it. That may get their attention.

BTW, when you do get the shaft with the slip in the middle, make sure it measures the 33" with the splines in the middle of thier travel instead of fully compressed or too far out.
