A bit more seat belt help please !!
OK, I have been having issues with installing front belts. Here is where I am at.
1. I know where the two center/female belts bolt in at on the back of the step-up. 2. My passenger side retractor ( original blazer type ) seems to bolt to the step-up as well and actually fits great there. ( See 2nd pic ) 3. I need to know extactly where the drivers side retract bolts in at. I have an illustration from the assembly manual but what I need is an actual picture and possibly some type of measurement to the bolt hole. The reason is because the PO did some patch work and then rhino linered over everything so I am not sure where to start, possibly having to doing some fabrication to get the belt bolted down. I am adding a pic as well of the drivers side if anyone could put a mark or something on the original bolt hole. Thanks, Bret

Thanks Luv, just as I thought. Ok guys, I know the way your minds work so figure me out an inexpensive/operational way to install the driver retract.
Could I do something similar to the passenger side on the step-up ? I just set it up against the step-up and it looks like it fits rather nice. My concern would be securing it properly. Thanks, Bret

Looks like someone patched up the floor boards on the drivers side.
Easy solution, drill a hole as close as you can figure the correct spot is, take off the rocker box end cap. Get a nut thingy from a junkyard truck(might be difficult) like you see on the top left corner in the picture below and tack it to the backside of the floor. If you cant get a "nut thingy" you can make one by welding the correct sized nut to a small piece of flat steel. Last edited by Gee_Emm; 03-22-2005 at 10:05 AM. |

Sounds like Gee Emm has the best solution. If you have a roll bar, you might be able to attach some retractor belts to it. I've got some 3pt belts out of an explorer I was going to mount to the roll bar in my '69, but then lazyness set in so they are still in the garage.
One of the board members made a slick set up for 3pt seat belts on his roll bar. Anyone remember who that was? I believe his blazer was bright yellow.

Just measured mine: 2 5/16 " from the step up wall, 2 1/4" from the inside of the weatherstrip flange.
