Spindle question
A neighbor of mine gave me some stock spindles, but he is not sure if they are off of a 70 or a 71. I need to find out... is there any way to tell the difference between the two years? I do know that they are 1/2 ton, but that is it. I know that 70's were lug and 71's were 5 lug, but how do you tell from just looking at the spindle which year it is off of?
Thanks for any and all help with this.... NutZ |

As far as I know, the '71 will have the caliper mount, because that's when they changed to disk. The '70 will be smaller, without the mounting ears.

A '70 will be a drum brake spindle and will be thinner and bolted together and a '71 will be bigger and have a large area cut out where the caliper bolts to, since they are disk. Sorry if my explaination sucks, if you post a pic I can tell you
