88 burb gas millage ?
Hi!!,
Looking at buying a 1988 3/4 ton suburban 2wd with the 454 TBI... can anyone tell me what kind of gas mileage your getting, I'm looking at buying this as a work truck, and I want to know what kinda gas costs I'd be looking at. TY Ludwig the

My brother-in-law has an 89 3/4 T 2wd with the 454 TBI and a TH400. He gets about 10 plus miles per gallon. My 91 4x4 with a 350 TBI and a 700R4 Trans gets a hair over 15 plus miles per gallon. Neither 'Burb does really great but then neither one is a rice grinder the size of a cracker box.

i havent had mine long (91 burb 3/4 ton with 454 Fuel Injected, low gearing) but so far from what i can tell it seems right around 10-12 mpg.
also with gas over $2.20 it took $50 to put about 3/4 of a tank in. more now that it is $2.34 locally.. but a possible good thing is that if you dont drive it alot and keep your foot off the gas then you can get decent mileage then that full tank will seem to last forever

My 85 gets right around 10, doesn't seem to matter much what kind of driving.... Of course I'm not racing it either... The good news is, it doesn't drop much when I put the camper behind it...
