Attaching A-Arms
Anyone ever have trouble putting 73-87 bottom A-Arms on a 70 crossmember...getting the pins to line up properly???...that and the same year U-bolts being a little large. I see that the 70's Ubolts are a size smaller....I put the Ubolts in the vise and gently squeezed...took care of that problem....still the alignment pins.
I'd greatly appreciate anyone's feedback in this issue. Thanks... Billy G

I have never done this. but why would you use the later arms with the sloppy rubber bushings? 73-87 ball joints will fit the 70 arms & then you will have more accurate & ridgid suspension.
what I have heard of is using the "saddles" with the larger pins & u-bolts from later. just cut the rivets off & install them on your 70 with some leaf spring center bolts.

I had a little bit of an issue when doing it - but i used the '69's u-bolts. the pins lined up but it took a bit of cussing and getting pissed.
keep trying man they should go in

Got em in...just took the right words....lol....and attitude. Put little floor jack under the arm....lifted the arm into place by hand...then supported. Worked like a champ on the 2nd side.
Thanks for the comments... Billy G

See...sometimes you just gotta get mad at it and cuss a little...they eventually cooperate and if not you can always break out the "BFH" (Big F***** Hammer) or the "Firewrench" as i like to call it (oxy/fuel)
