Will a 1/2 ton axel from a 72 fit a 79 1/2 ton?

Hi Jason...ya beat me to the question.......I may be wrong but I think the left and right axles are different lenghts.....if I remember I think you said you needed a right side(passenger side), correct....I'll measure mine when I get out to the shop......got the pics, things look good......I'll call ya.....Thanks Troy
