Wow, I know Virginia had a mandatory insurance law, but I had no idea it was instituted before 1971.

Cool, you didn't happen to get truck plates did you? I didn't realize VA used truck plates back then until I got my truck from my uncle and it had '70 truck plates.

Naaa, I just got regular plates, it's all you really need. I don't know the whole story behind truck plates, I think they may have been for commercial trucks but I'm not sure.

Yeah, I don't know either, I just thought it was cool to have them. I also have a small tag that I guess would bolt under the liscence plate from 70 that says Henrico County and truck in smaller letters under Henrico. Now if I could find one for Hanover, where I live that would be really cool.

I found all the original paper work for mine and it had that in with it. My truck was originally sold and registered in Huntsville, Alabama.

They haven't, they look new but I thought they were just restored until I saw the paper. It's the first pair that I've seen with this.

I have a pair of n.o.s. 1972 Virginia plates for one of my trucks.Like yours, with the paper.I was wondering about the truck vs car-type difference.I want to register it at my sister`s address in Page County.I think mine do have a T.I`ll have to check. But,the truck tags were for commercial and pickups can run same tags as cars?

Randy, After I saw your post, I went back and pulled my NOS plates out that I purchased last year. They do not have the piece of paper yours has, but they do have a yellowed paper in there that advertises about defensive driving, becoming a safe driver and "Keep Virginia Clean...Don't be a litterbug.
I'll stop by your place one day and meet you in person. We'll swap lies. Are you there most of the day? Bob Sawyer Last edited by Botietruck; 05-22-2005 at 10:16 PM. Reason: add pic |
