Bolt pattern question

Does anyone happen to know if rims from a mid 80's lookin caprice are the same bolt pattern as my 85 2wd? But I am thinking they aren't.

My reason for asking is because there are some mean lookin black torque thrusts for sale off a caprice. I think they would look pretty good on my truck.

Full size GM cars have a 5" bolt circle.

I believe the 5 bolt truck rims have a 5" bolt circle also.

I have a set off a '79 'Burb, I can measure them tomorrow if you want?

Call up a tech line for a wheel manufacturer nd ask them, they should know for sure.

Just my .02

Trucks are 5" by 5" where the cars are 5" by 4 3/4".

trucks are 5 on 5, cars were split. most cars are 5 on 4 3/4, but some (most commonly station wagons, police cars, taxi cabs, etc) were 5 on 5.

DSWANCUTT thanks for the link.

One more question- When you see rims like american racing for example, they mostly have 2 different bolt patterns(rwd offset). If the smaller of the 2 is the 5x4.75, then is the other most likely 5x5? Or do they randomly drill the the different patterns maybe?

The HD version of the Caprice used the 5x5" spacing.

If anyone is interested in '94-'96 Impala SS 17x8 inch stock wheels brand new with centercaps (yes, they're 5X5 and will fit a 5-lug GM truck), you need to get with Dal Slabaugh at VanDevere Olds. They're about $135 ea + shipping, or $660 TOTAL for 4 wheels and centercaps to your door. This is an impalassforum.com annual special kinda deal, so jump in quick, like in the next few days. That's a steal if you like those wheels. Dal's email is lockitup@bright.net, and he's a busy man, so be patient! You're welcome!

Don't forget to check the backspacing as well. You don't want 'em rubbing the fenders...

GM part number for a set of 4 including caps and valve stems is 12495438. It should get you a set for that same price all year long... That is how I got mine..

If you got that deal or better on GM Impala SS wheels, please scan the receipt. I'd like to know where.

Actually, that part number is for a set of 4, and the best price going on the real deal is usually about $152 ea + shipping. $660 SHIPPED is just about unbeatable.

BTW, Dal will supply almost any GM part for about cost +10-12% (with reasonable shipping). About the same as gmpartsdirect.com without the ridiculous shipping charges.

Sorry, that was a typo, it is a set of 4. It is at my local dealership where I buy all my parts - Ivan Leonard Chevrolet. I won't have the reciept though, the last set I bought I got for someone else. I do know that if you price just one, it cost more.

I know what you're saying, but Dal sells them for the same price for 1 or for 4. He orders the part number you listed above for a set of 4, then breaks them up if need be. He's usually sitting on 15 SETS of those wheels! I know that $135 each is just a few bucks over cost. You might have bought the set with a serious hookup from your dealer at a price close to that, but you didn't pay shipping (I assume you paid sales tax). Most dealers will try to get about $200 each, even when using the part number that gets the set of 4.

They were $140 apiece and I did pay tax on them. I am not saying that isn't a deal shipped, it IS. I am saying I personally can get them for around that at the local dealer.

That's cool. I know it's possible, but most dealers out there try to get close to list price, which is significantly higher than the price we're talking. Well, at least you know your dealer likes you!

if you really wanted to push it, you could order them from GMPartsDirect.com for 162.96 for the SET. their website mentions a package quantity of 4, and "our price" at 162.96, but never mentions that its only for one wheel.

"This 1994-96 Chevrolet Impala SS wheel kit includes 4 wheels P/N 12360496, 4 wheel caps P/N 9592229, 20 wheel nuts, and 4 valve stem."

162.96 is insanely cheap if they are serious. Anyone already have these rims on their truck? I know somebody did, I'm just not sure where I saw it and would like to take a closer look.

That's not for all 4. Trust me. I've been on the ImpalaSSforum for over 5 years. If you order that part number, it's 162.96 x 4 + shipping. The price I quoted was the best you're going to get unless they're used or stolen. I promise! Sorry I hijacked this thread inadvertently. I just meant to give some folks another relatively-inexpensive option, especially while they're on sale the next few days.

Earl Filter's cost will murder GMPartsDirect. They will KILL you with shipping cost.

we're well aware that that's not actually the complete set, however the description DOES NOT SPECIFY THAT. if someone wanted to push it, they could get a set of wheels and centercaps for that price.

I understand what you're saying. Ask me about my $899 (that was the "then" price) home theater system that I bought new at a store for $222.

It was a similar deal...mismarked pricing.

It does say that the set includes 4 wheels, but when you add it to your "shopping cart", they make you put a quantity of 4 in. Tricky bastards.
