I have a buddy that is wanting to sell me his pretty much brand new MSD ignition box for $100. I don't know anything about them, so is it something that I could use or what. I have a 350 with a little bit of work done to it. It seems to always run rich, he says that this box will help that. Any ideas or comments are welcome. Thanks

A new MSD 6A ignition usually sells for $160+. You will need a high output coil to complete the set-up. Always running rich is an unburned fuel problem, and better spark is only part of the cure. You may have other timing or carb issues that is associated, and the ignition box is not a cure all.

blaster 2 coil runs about 35 bucks get that if you run a tach you might need a adapter for the wiring

I'd say go for it if it is a 6AL (built in rev limiter).

Unless you have a highly moded engine and run at the drag strip you will find that is just money wasted. A good HEI complete (less wires) cost less than $100 new unless you want to pay for a name brand unit & will work great in most stock & the average modified engine.

I have already converted the motor to HEI. I was just wondering if the box would add to it or not.

i think it'd be a big waste of money. wouldn't solve your fuel system problem and would probablly just cause you electrical gremlin problems in the future

NOT NEEDED ON LIGHTLY MODIFIED STREET ENGINES

how would this cause electrical problems? theres only 4 wires is there not if i recall when i hooked mine up

hell i say go for it, it is a lot better then a HEI, a good HEI will not stand up to MSD And It will kinda fix your problem, It will be money well spent

I agree with little bits and pieces of what's been said. First, I'd definetly go with the MSD box. 20 degrees of multiple spark firing vs a single pulse from a standard iginition improves power and makes for a more efficient engine...but...if you're buring that rich, it's probably a carb adjustment problem, not anything to do with the electrical or ignition system. I've never had any electrical problems associated with the MSD systems that I've owned either.

Anyway...just my $.02...
