Emergency Brake Question
How hard is it to replace E Brake cables and are they actually worth changing? Can I run without them? I also need to know who sells them and how much they cost. Any pictures are apreciated.

you can run without them but if you loose a master cylinder or a brake hose ETC. you'll wonder why you didn't make the effort to replace them!!!!!!! you also probably not going to pass a safety inspection without them
they're pretty straight foward to replace / should be available at any parts house

Its according to your experience level, its really easy to change them even the one in the cab, you will notice a difference in the ebrake, cables do stretch, never thought about running without them, check with bill athey "atheys truck parts" he should have them. There not too expensive.

Emergency brakes are really nice to have. Here is a link to Inline Tubes. They carry a complete line of e-brake cables and components. You buy the full set or whatever parts you need, cables can be obtained in steel or stainless steel.
Their sets include instructions. http://www.inlinetube.com/ If you decide to go with e-brakes I can take a pic of our 71 2wd setup. Jim |

I strongly suggest not running without. Ive had a brake failure before and it saved the truck!

If you've ever had a brake failure (I know from experience) you'll wonder why you ran without them. I wouldn't recommend it.

They are available for about all years. I had everything replaced at a brake shop on a 76 from the foot pedal to the wheels , while in there on a brake job for 180.00 dollas! Cheap insurance if not just for the truck,, yourself, family and everyone else out there.
Just do it. LMC has them |
