Running motor without harness
So i want to get the frame finished to the point I can drive her around the block. The problem I face is I don't want to hook-up an O.E harness, I rather just make one with the wires I need so i can rip her apart on and off. Anyone got any the steps to do this? I got some idea but rather get a list going of "TO-DO" list before i start on this. I want to get my mind of the body work
I got an HEI 1-wire alternator Also I had to 2 row radiator now I got a 4 row. Do i have to mod the bottom mounts? or are there 4 row mounts for the bottom and top? Tips, ideas, and diagrams would be great. thanks Alex Last edited by Alexis; 07-23-2005 at 11:28 PM. |

4 row tank will be wider--will need bigger rubber mounts top and bottom. Also 4 row will be longer-just move top holder to outer holes on pass. side.

If you want to be lazy and not set it up the right way like jhow66 has outlined, just run a wire from the + terminal of the battery to your coil, and short the big terminal of your starter motor to the small terminal that is closest to the block to crank the engine over. The terminals on your starter motor may get a little crispy.

I want to get a simple wiring system going. I got a plate for my gauges so I can mount the RPM, oil, and temp. So I don't have to install the dash. I just want to get something going. I feel if i get her rolling around the block it'll motivate me everytime i start her up for shts and giggles.

To add some thoughts on the wiring diagram.....
splice the wire from the alt into the batt + to starter post wire and it will charge the battery Make sure that the switches are heavy duty items(25 amps or more) Don't forget to ground the motor to the frame and batt. Faulty grounds can cause really weird electrical problems...
