Anyone here have a 454 in their truck?
I need a good picture of a 454, more importantly, a good picture of the water pump/intake manifold area and the hoses that run between them (if they do). It also needs to be a long water pump.
I am confused as to how these two ports are used. BTW, here is my freshly painted water pump. Thanks for the help!

I have a 454 in my '77 Suburban. I don't have any pics, but on mine, one of those ports is blocked with a plug and the other one has fitting in it so you can run a very short hose to a fitting on the intake manifold, under the thermostat housing.

Is it some kind of angled fitting, or is the short hose bent to fit into a straight fitting? Do you know which one is plugged, or doesn't it matter?
Thanks for the reply, looking forward to your response.

Mine has a straight fitting, the hose has to bend a little to get to a straight fitting on the intake. I can't remember offhand which one is plugged, but you should be able to tell if you put the water pump up to the block. It seems like it was almost a straight shot between the two fittings. Is that vague enough?

Joe, you know what they say about pictures...
Thank you both for your help!! I was worried I painted the incorrect water pump for a few minutes.

I think you used to be able to { or still may } buy a short hose that actually had a bend in it to match the fittings but all I get at the parts stores around here now are short straight hoses that kink in the middle when you hook them up.

There was a formed hose, but I thing a lot of places stopped carrying it (at least around here) because I could get them to give a 1/2 a foot of hose, where I could buy the formed one for the cost of about 3 feet.

Chris, what did you use to paint your engine? Paint brand/name/color...whatever. Also, did you spray it or brush it?
Mine looks pretty similar (color wise), and I used the POR-15 engine paint system.

I used DuPont epoxy primer and painted it with DuPont Basecoat/clearcoat. The color is the same one found on the wheels of my 2000 Corvette.

Where is that second long hose from the water pump going? Is it the return line from the heater core?

I like the color, but I don't like Moroso written on there. They won't be staying.
