Help need your opinion or just two cents

We found a 74 k-10 4x4, gmc, it is pretty much stock, 33" tires, original paint and so on. Here's the problem, the front and rear seals are leaking, 1" diameter drops after 10 minitues of setting. The trans also feels like it takes long time to get it going in reverse, slips so I know a rebuild is around the corner. What would you expect to pay? $1100 straight body no if minimal rust. And what can i expect to pay to have the seals done?

Thanks ahead of time

Tom

Sorry no pics my camera fried on me.

i recall one time in about 2001 or 2002 i spoke to a gm only tranny shop-talked to a guy named alex there-its a family owned business.now this was for a 2WD TH350 with a shift kit it was 400 even out the door and they would install it included in the price and they would tow it too.they were on southern and horne in mesa.i also had a truck one time a 2WD shortbed that when i bought it had a trans in brand new from a shop called transplant located somewhere in phoenix and i called them once about there prices they wanted 325 but you install it.that was one of the best trannies i ever had.you might check into them too.as far as your axles i think most any parts stores should sell complete overhaul kits for axles if your up to the task otherwise im not sure of the cost to get them done at a shop.call around your area and see what a shop charges to do it then factor that into the cost of buying the truck and then go from there.good luck.
