Anthony,
They are most definitely paintable. The Jimmy's/Blazers all had a factory textured coating that was sprayed onto the top both to hide little imperfections and help handling the top when removed. The best way to do it yourself is to go to Sherwin Williams or whoever "paint store" and get what's called kleen strip fiberglass safe paint stripper. It comes in a blue can. Brush it on, let it sit about 15 min to half an hour, and scrape all the textured coating and factory paint off with a plastic scraper. You may have to repeat a couple of times to get it all off. Just do a small section at a time. Wash off the residue with a hose and dry it off. Fix all the damage with a do it yourself fiberglass kit, sand smooth, prime and paint. Curt |
