1967 GMC VIN Decoding information?

I'm looking at a '67 GMC for either parts for my '67 Chevy Custom or for a restoration of its own, and was wanting to see how much info I could get from the VIN.

The older 50's GMC's always seemed to have more information tucked away in their VIN's than the Chevys of the same era did, but so far i've not been able to find any solid info on decoding a '67 GMC Truck VIN.

CM159ODPCXXXXA is the VIN.. title says 1/2 ton GMC Pickup.

Can anybody help me out?

I compiled this from my Service Manual book for ya.

C = Conventional Cab
M = V6 Gasoline
1590 = GVW Range Number "See Load Capacity Chart in Owner's Manual"
D = Wide Side Pickup
P = Pontiac Assembly Plant
C = Model Year
Remaining numbers are your Serial Number

Close, but not quite there vortexofpain...good attempt.

C= Conventional Cab
M= V6
1 = 1/2 ton
59 = cab to rear axle dimesnsion GMC used 59 to mean 54 inches
OD = wide side box
P = Pontiac
C = 1967
XXXX sequence number
A at the end is for GVW range of 6000 & less

It takes a variety of books to figure those type vins out.... you gotta look at how they did say a 1966 vin and then find body styles..and it can be done. Service books is where I started too...then figured it all out.
