corvette front suspension for '54

Hey there.
Looking for any info on putting an 1985 vette front suspension under my 54 chevy. I see a couple of companies that offer crossmember but I want to use stock vette crossmember. My friend has a 56 ford with vette front and stock crossmember. Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Tristen

I have done it but it looks rather cheezey. The stock crossmember is pretty thin and worked great the way they had it ties in on the vette but in your 54 its not so easy.Looks like a messed like the volarie clip(not neat) 2 things you dont want. the front spring and the rack. The spring was bad in the 84-86 vettes and rode real bad ,worse in your lighter truck. Call Bob at Progressive he has the best crossmember and has been doing Vette in everthing for many years. I have built a few of my own(before kits) but now use his crossmembers as it ends up cheaper, quicker and looks as good as anything i build.
This is one of the first i did with a vette rack...steering too quick. Call Bob he will give you all the info and is not a pushy sales person. Good Luck they look great when done and stronger than allmost anything out there.

Nice job then. It looks like the recessed area is a little bigger than images I've seen on the DSM and *****in' sites.

I cant find anything on that one but i do have one i did on a 37 car. It at least shows the crossmember. That one in the pixs was one of the first i did so it was not the best. it worked good but lots of improvements with the rack and stuff. I found the car its about the same as a truck. I have not finished this one....its my own go figure. but gives you some idea what a good crossmember will look like done. Maybe some ideas.

I would like to find a pic of 47-54 chevy with the stock crossmember install. This has got to be low buck so I am sticking with the stock rack and spring. I dont care how it looks as it will be covered up with plenty of front-end sheet metal.

Thanks,

Tristen
