Need Drive Shaft Help? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have a 70 chevy 4x4 half ton short bed. I was woundering if i could use a drive shaft out of a newer truck ( like 73 or newer) because my drive shaft has a bad slip and spline. The drive shaft place i called wanted 400$ for a new drive shaft, and 200 for a new slip and spline. So I wanted to see if i could find one that is a little cheaper.

you can use any shaft thats the same length and same u-joint size of course, for application i'm sure you'll have to get yourself a tape measure and get to a wrecking yard, or ebay or maybe one of your brothers here can help you out. good luck!

should be a spicer style, very common. But sometime in the late 70s, early 80s they went to a flange style mounting on the transfer case. Do what superron said and if possible pull the old one and take with you as you search.

Do what superron said and if possible pull the old one and take with you as you search. __________________ 1970 K25, 8' stepside bed 350/465/205 44 up front, 60 in the rear 4.10s rolling on 33" Dunlop MTs 1986 K5, 350/465/208 Dana 60/14 bolt from a cucv 36" Super Swampers TSL/SX 1983 K20 w/ CUCV axles, 350/700R4/208 sitting on 37" Goodyears 1986 M1031 6.2 diesel, TH400/NP205 locker in the rear and a LS in the front, all stock for now..... 1986 K30, 350/400/205 dana 60 and 14 bolt. I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone. 1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed.
