Sure it needs some work but there is a potential beast in there. 1974 small block 400 I got from PICKMUP today. I have been threatening Frank for two years that I was going to get it back...it was in a truck I sold him. I finally got it today with the help of americanrider. We had to pull it from the engine bay with my Toyota 4x4! I could see Frank running for cover or to call his insurance agent...I am not sure which...LOL! No blood...no foul! Great guys and a great time!!!!! Everyone should visit PICKMUP's toy yard!!!!!!!!!

When I get this built I can give elkhunter his loaner engine back. The guys on this board are great!

But...why are you putting it in the truck that is going to be a numbers matching ride????

Or are you bailing on the big block idea on the other longhorn?

Andy, This is just a temporary motor for the small block Longhorn while the 327 is getting rebuilt. The original 327 is going to be an expensive rebuild since it ate a piston. I will drive the sb LH while I am finishing the big block Longhorn, since it only needs minor body work. Once the BB LH is finished, I will drive it while I am doing the 100 pt. resto. Complicated...yes...but this plan will always give me a truck to drive. I really feel like I have to get the loaner motor back to elkhunter. This motor will look like a 327...except for that external balancer...but should kick ass like no 327 ever will. I want the torque to get that 3/4 t. moving!

Naw...sorry that is my son. He just finished up at WyoTech and is building hotrods for a living now. Like he is any help to me. All his off time is now spent on his 4X4 Toyota wheeler. He is temporarily moving away from the V-8's...but it won't last...LOL!

Mike, What did the numbers come up as? A 74 out of what? I had fun today too, Franks place is like a candy store.... I just ohhh & ahhh ed at everything shiney like a kid! He has part coming out of the rafters and then some.
