What did you get done?
I thought I would post this early because I won't be back on until later tonight. I spent the weekend at my buddies house in Dallas. On Saturday we went to the shop where my 77 Cheyene is at. They are doing a new motor and tranny install and it's getting pretty close to being finished.
This shop is hot rodders heaven. The shop manager is building his personal truck (94 Chevy) in his spare time, and it's coming together. He has almost everything done but the finishing touches on his interior. I got a tour of all the customers cars, and the shop owners collection too. They have a ton of different cars and trucks that I managed to get some pics of. I also meet a forum member (Film Guy) and spent time talking about his truck and the plans he has for it. The highlight of my trip, besides working on my truck was meeting Scotty Gray. I have heard so much about this man, and his ever changing collection of high proflie cars, I had no idea what to expect. I assumed he was just some rich guy that bought all these high profile cars to feed his ego. I was wrong! Scotty is the nicest person you would ever want to meet. This man is a true hot rodder, and appreciates any thing that is considerd a hot rod. He is just as willing to discuss your low buck project with genuine interest as he is to talk about the gazillion dollar car he just bought. I'll have to give you the run down of the tour he took me on later but I can tell you he is living everyone of our dreams. I have a bunch of pics and lots of details but for now I will give you a sneak peek of my motor, and ask "What did you get done"?

Re: What did you get done?
I actually did not work this weekend! Spent the weekend in Dallas for a cousin's b-day. Had a really good time. It was nice to just chill on the weekend. Might have to do that more often.
BTW - f.monroe, nice looking truck. Congrats! Last edited by Ric83; 11-14-2005 at 10:29 AM. |

Re: What did you get done?
Nothing much here. Ive been debating if I should go into work and finish getting the heads pulled off a windstar and weld the rest of my exh system on the firechicken to get it out of the shop since monday and tuesday are going to be busy. I might still go in if the Broncos start to loose.

Installed a Hydrobost system off of a 1 ton truck, and did a little cleaning under the hood.

Re: What did you get done?
Got all the yard work done along with my honey do's and was finally released from captivity thursday around 1pm. Still waiting on my arb locker and parts to finish the front end on my 79. Thursday while visiting my friends semi truck body shop i bought the deal of the year a titled running 89K5 for $200 and some trade labor on some rock buggy wiring work. This 89 will provide a tub and motor for my 79 2wd project and an over drive trans and vss 241 case for my chalet. Spent the rest of friday chasing down a parasitic draw in the 79 till 3am. Then as it goes in my line of work i had to haul buns to wyoming which included driving thru the middle of nowhere at the wee hours of the night while dealing with snow and wonderful plentiful elk and deer that like to cross the road right as you get near them. But the now sleep for 48 is over and i know have time to sit and surf the net and watch movies since my tool is downhole and working just fine. 700 feet to go and then its time for casing break and a grocery run to rock springs.

Re: What did you get done?
Finished up my 4 post lift. Got it done just in time to pull a buddies Camaro onto into and reapir a fuel leak. I then pulled every car I own onto the lift. You know just to check things out. So far Im really excited. Bought a few extra also to go with the sliding jack trays that I got with the lift.

Re: What did you get done?
Well, I got the oil changed in the truck. I also went to a local show today, unfortunately there was only 1 truck, a hot rod S 10 with a 350. On the other hand, since I just bought my 79 Vette, I was happy to see more rubber bumper C3 Vettes than any other car there, 3 of them, with 5 Vettes overall. The cool thing is I found out about the show from a guy in a stalled 64 SS Chevelle that I stopped to help him push. Turns out he car is 100% original and been in the same family since new.

Re: What did you get done?
After two weeks of it sitting in my driveway, I have finally disassembled the '85 parts burb I bought. As you can see here,http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/joe_th...bum?.dir=/d79a, all I have left is to remove the front and rear axels and some misc. small things. Next weekend the torch comes out and I get to slice and dice.

Re: What did you get done?
Not a whole lot mechanical wise, i tinted the windshield to the AS1 line and the vent windows with 5%, i already did the rear, now i just have the windows, i'm going to use 35% on them tho. Mowed the yard...maybe for the last time this year? Cleaned the garage out and cleaned my old bass boat up to sell on ebay, i hate to see it go, but the motor needs a lower unit and i don't want to mess with it. The proceeds for the boat will probably go towards purchasing another project, gotta be careful tho, i only have a garage to work out of, i miss the old days of a spacious shop.

Re: What did you get done?
I put on the new front end pieces, control arms, drop spindles, nitro drops, and spindles etc, finished up the other cab corner on the pass side and lifted the 41 sedan off it's frame so we can blast that next, wanted to do that this weekend, but the weather did not want to cooperate. Had lunch at Ponderosa and trying to dicker a deal on 64 truck doors and fenders.

Re: What did you get done?
Congrats Mike!
I got the TPI intake back from VATing, (for got pics...) and it should be getting sandblasted this week. Spent some more time on the EFI harness. Some of the instructions I had appeared to be wrong for repinning, so I started maping them all out by myself, ... ALL of them.

Re: What did you get done?
I did manage to remove the top bellhouse bolts on engine swap. Hopefully this weekend I'll actually remove the old motor and get to finish cleaning up under the hood. This is my first swap so things are going slow but steady. I am snapping pics and as soon as I get some down loaded on my computer I'll post a few of the progress.
