What did you get done?

This week wasn't as exciting as last week. I had to work so the only thing truck related I got done was detail my daily drivers. Pretty boring stuff. I did get an email from my buddy Keith saying he got his 68 to the shop. He will be dropping it pretty soon getting it ready for next spring....

What did you get done?

Re: What did you get done?

I picked up a pair of 40 series flowmasters and some pipe, so that I could build the exhaust for the 86 this week.
I also built a mount for two 12" electric fans and wired them. yeah, yeah I know I need to do some cleanup and painting on the radiator. but cut me some slack I finally got something done.

The pic looks scrunchy. Did you resize to exactly 100 x 100?

The new software will resize it for you. Put the original pic in there and it will do the rest...

Re: What did you get done?

Clocked some OT on Saturday. Attended a 'makeshift' 10yr HS reunion on Sat. evening.

Got up with the kids at 05:00 Sunday and let my wife sleep in. She went with the kids to the MIL's around 10:00 and I went back to bed Got up around 15:00. I'm ready for bed again and its not even 21:00. I'm tired of being sick now.

Re: What did you get done?

Like Ken said I finally got to the warehouse and retrieved the 68 from it's resting place. I also sanded, primed and painted the roof on the 54 Merc that we're playing with at the shop. Saturday we color sanded and buffed the whole car, when I crawled out that night the stripper was layin down the lines. Also during this time we worked a little on a old black 77 truck, parts should be in next week so with any luck we'll be able to dump our trash at the land fill in no time.

Re: What did you get done?

Started pulling engine/tranny from '86 GMC truck Saturday at around 10am. Stopped working at 1:30am (Sunday) when we got the engine/tranny out of '84 K5 donor. We swapped carb, manifiolds and all the emissions vacuum/smog pump nightmare before we went to bed.
Started again at 10am sunday and pushed through till I was able to drive the GMC home! It was a 40 mile drive home and I got there at 12:15am (Monday).
Some lingering items - have to go back down to Covington to my buddies place to clean his shop and get donor packed up and back on trailer, gas leak around carb (not sure where yet), TV cable issues, ruined another heater core (two engine swaps in a row now - if I'm helping you out sometime, don't let me near the heater core hose!).
The new engine has an "RV" cam and we are wondering if that has anything to do with the spongy brakes?

It could. Check for any vacuum leaks and also that the brake booster line to the carb is not kinked. If not then you may need a vacuum canister from Summit or Jeg's.

Re: What did you get done?

Thanks. I'll get a look at it next time I am home before dark. BTW, I'm not driving it until I get the TV issues and gas leak fixed.

Re: What did you get done?

Worked like usual but ordered some parts for the truck's Christmas presents More on that when everything arrives. One thing that suprised me was that I was at work Sat. and Jody called me saying that my Summit order had arrived and I had just ordered it late Wed. night. I wasexpecting sometime Mon. or Tues. Now I'll see how long it takes the other parts to get here.

Re: What did you get done?

Nothing truck related

My air compressor and glass beading cabinet both broke when I needed them most. I did some work on my wagon and poured a slab of concrete for the air compressor once we're ready to set it back in it's place. Hopefully next weekend I can have a better report.

edit: On a good note, we did drop the '56 off at the chassis shop. In about a month I'll post some update pics of one of wildest projects to roll out of our garage....ever.

Re: What did you get done?

Saturday I started to chop up the 85 Burb and i still have quite a bit more to go. It is taking longer than I thought it would. I still have the bottom tub left, but some buddies are coming over to help next weekend. Then I helped out on the 1 million posts thread.

Sunday was the wife and my day off together so not much got done. I did manage to pick up a hood for the '76 and a front x-member for 20 bucks.

Re: What did you get done?

I worked on the 80's standard tranny, and painted it's rear diff. Started a remote starter install on my 89, but quickly lost interest after I realized I couldn't remember what half the wires were for. Then moved on to clearing some fallen bush with the help of my wonderful bobcat, and went on to cut it up.

Gonna figure out how to build two new attachments for the bobcat -- A hydraulic wood splitter and a hydraulic press. Need the press to finish my tranny rebuild for the 80, and the wood splitter cause I'm sick and tired of swinging the axe, lol
