Cool Hi All

Well its ben awhile since i did any posting on the board, I was usually up in the 47-59 forums. I just happen to buy back my 81 swb stepside for dirt cheap, Its been sitting for about 5 yrs now, got it home on thursday nite. Slow charged the battery for a day and then yesterday put the battery in hooked a line from a gas can strapped to the inner fender fo the fuel pump. Went in turned the key and hit the pedel a few time and she fired off and sat there and idled fine. the truck had an inline 6 3 spd that was put on the floor and the clitch and trans seems to work fine> Now i have a couple of ?'s, i also have a 76 swb i been driving around for a couple of yrs. but the cab and box is really falling apart, good thing it has real nice doors and i was wandering the 76 doors will boltup to the 81, and will or has anyone put a 4-5 spd trans from an s-10 or newer c series trucks in to an older 87 and down truck w/out have to change alot of things. I must say there are alot of nice looking trucks showing up onthe board and gives me lots of onsperation to get my 81 looking good. thanx for any info in advanced

Re: Hi All

well i was looking over the truck again today and i noticed the left rear shackle hanger is rusted badly so that will have to be replaced. Now i was thinking (maybe not a smart thing to do) i am considering doing the the flip rear which from what i understand will give me almost 6 inches of a drop, now if im correct the 4x4 hangers are 2 longer then a 4x2 so i put the 4x hangers on and then flip the rear i should get about a 4" whats you opinion on this i dont want to get to low Pa is a pain in the ass for altered trucks and the cop around here measure everything.
Im also considering the either cutting the front springs down in which i need to how much to cut off and where exactly i should start the cut at or doing a crossmember drop itself but by notching and boxing in the frame any info and opinions needed

oh yea and if anyone can help me w/ pic posting

thanx Pugs

Re: Hi All

Im slowly making progress on my 81 got the new hangers on found better leaves and shackles at the boneyard this past weekend got the left cab corner all but in. I got my rocker today I ordered and started working on that.I also went and looked at another 81 swb today and im gonna be picking it up it has a real nice font clip even the inners are nice and the cab is about same shape as i have now so once i get ther truck on the road im gonna fix the other cab up and do the suspension drop like i wanted to do to the one im working on now. Im still trying to figure out how to get pics posted, dang i hate puters

Re: Hi All

heres a pic of the red 76^, this is my daily driver. the blue 81 Im working is getting fixed it up to be my driver cuz the 76 is a gas hog at this point and it need to body needs to be fixed up it wont pass inspection this year. IF and when i get the other 81 i looked at yeasterday home i plan on betting that body fixed up, gettinglowered and then remove drivetrain from either the 76 or the 81 not sure which way it will go at this point. Now if i ever come across another 55-59 cab and frontend again i will mount it on one of these chassis like i had done to a 56 a couple of years ago. So i just have to see what happenes down the road
