Help! Trying to find split rims
Hi guys, do any of you know where I would be able to get a set of 5 split rims for a 1948 Chevy? They're 6 bolt but I don't know what size they're supposed to be either. I've contacted over ten wrecking yards for old trucks to no avail. Any help would be great!

Re: Help! Trying to find split rims
Not off the cuff but, try these two places:
http://stovebolt.com/ Great bunch of folks. Check out the classifieds and then register and post the question if you don't find them. Someone may know where you can get a set. http://groups.msn.com/SplitWindowRestorations Robert's the guy that runs the site and he restores trucks and sell surplus parts. He might have a line on some for you. I read a post that he was going to be out of pocket for Christmas so, it may be a couple of days before he responds. Good luck and Merry Christmas!

Re: Help! Trying to find split rims
Stock wheels on the 48 1/2 ton were 16", but there were several possibilities.

Re: Help! Trying to find split rims
Memory may fail, but I recall getting splits(16"?) on my 42 which I went out and found drop center wheels (16") to replace them. I think they may still be in the shed, but will have to get a flashlight and check.
I thought it strange for a split at 16" and for the drop center wheel at 16" but chalked it up to someone elses knowledge or ? I will check and respond. Don't know about how to get them to you if I have them. LILREDGMC |
