s-10 frame swap q's
Hey guys
I/m anxious to do another 47-53 pickup, but I want to try the s-10 frame swap this time- Which frame do I look for? Use original frame mounts? What all is involved? All replies are welcome- anything at all Thanks! Curbie

Thanks for the reply
That is one great article. I may rethink this project and do another Musatng II front end. That truck you have for sale makes me wish I had 40 grand Curbie

Re: s-10 frame swap q's
Hey Orange
Thanks for the reply. I printed eveything out so that I can read it tonite at home. I'll bet the 4wd frames are a little harder to come by. I like the kit idea. I just won a '52 on ebay that has acamaro front clip. I'll have to see how well it was done,if it doesn't look right, I'll just keep the chopped cab and set it on an s-10 frame. Thanks again for the help!

Re: s-10 frame swap q's
Does anyone know anything about Advance Design Engineering and their s10 frame kits-see Orange52's post above.
The kit looks like somehing that would save me a lot of time- the problem is that I can't get a response from them, sent two emails, checked reverse directory, etc. They seem like ghosts. Has anyone actually made contact with them, or know anymore about them? Thanks!

Re: s-10 frame swap q's
I ordered the kit on Monday. They sent me 10 pages of pictured directions. Looks pretty simple. I'll update the progress if anyone is interested.

Re: s-10 frame swap q's
I'll try to make a file from the email of directions and post it here tomorrow, I'm not very good at that tho.
It will be a little while until I get to working on this project- I just had total knee replacement surgery Curbie

Re: s-10 frame swap q's
Im doing a s-10 frame for my 52. Im using an 84 extended cab/short box. In the process of mounting a 76 camero rear diff into the rear then will be shorting the frame about 7 inches. Going to undo the factory welds where the front clip meets the frame and shortin it there, slide the frame back in making sure its all true and then button her back up. Will let you know how it goes when finished and post pics.

Re: s-10 frame swap q's
I'll beat this horse too. If you don't like the way the S10 conversion sits or looks or you just don't have about $1500 to $2000 to throw away, then why don't you just go buy a front saddle for a '73-'87 C10 and roll it under your truck and bolt it up? Worked great for mine and I got everything done in about 2 days and for a whopping total of $300 including the brake booster, master cylinder and pedal assembly.
P.S. Been under my truck now for about 5 years. Only thing I'll change is buy some lowering springs and take out the set I cut down. Oh and the 2 days was coming home after work and working on the truck 2 days.

Re: s-10 frame swap q's
Whats wrong with your stock frame......most s-10 deal look pretty crappy when done. Too narrow in the front. Mounting everthing is a night mare. Stang II or TCI is a 1 day job. That kits looks crummy when done.Stick with your stock frame

Re: s-10 frame swap q's
My dad did that on his truck originally but has since cut it off and gone with an after market setup. The only thing he didn't like about it was it stuck the wheels out futher that he wanted them. I can't remember how we had the motor in there though....I think we had some plates welded to the frame and to the crossmember that the motor mounts bolted to. Good luck guys.

Re: s-10 frame swap q's
I will go through my favorites list but I believe that I save a page were the guy used this method but to avoid the wheels sticking out like a steamroller, he chopped out like two inches from the center of the saddle. It doesn't look like it is in my favorites on my laptop. I will check when I get home.
