Got an interesting offer tonight...
Talked to an old friend, he offered to trade me a truck for an old Harley I got and am not doing anything with. It's a 49 Ford with a 350, 4 Speed manual tranny and a Ford 9 inch rear end. Seriously considering this. Gonna drive down next weekend and take a look at it. Body is supposed to be pretty straight. I am by no means a Ford fan, but I do like that body. And hey, it's got a Chevy motor.

Re: Got an interesting offer tonight...
My very first truck was a '51 ford with a chevy drive train in it there nothing wrong with owning a ford and being a chevy dude.
Id'e do it in a Heartbeat "pun intended" if its in good condition and all steel then its a steal especially if your not doing anything with the bike anyways. When i had my '51 i told everyone that it was built ford tough with chevy stuff! I SAY GO FOR IT! |

Re: Got an interesting offer tonight...
Well, all I can say about the truck is what I have told y'all so far. I do know it has a brand new crate motor in it. This guy I'm dealing with is lifetime friend of the family. He has built dozens of Chevy trucks. He got kicked out by his parents at a young age and lived with us for 6 years. He took all my rifles and shotguns while I was in Iraq and blued the barrels and refinished the wood for me for free.
As for the scooter, it was bought as a project. It's a 73 Ironhead. I got it at a deal a few years back to chop it out. Came back in the Army and it is sitting at my Moms. It's all there and only needs the primary put on. If this deal don't go and I was gonna sell it, I'd probably only try to get about 2K out of it. I got another Harley, 86 Softail. I plan on rebuilding it. The only problem I see is I'm moving to Colorado at the end of March. If I do this. It's got to at least be mechanically sound enough to make the trip. I may be getting an extension for 2 months, that would be perfect. I'll keep you guys posted. |

Re: Got an interesting offer tonight...
An old ironhead can bring decent money but it sounds like that truck would be a good trade as long as its pretty solid & not all cobbled together. I love sporties but the ironheads sure can be a pain in the butt!...corn

Re: Got an interesting offer tonight...
Hmmm? Running driving truck vs. basket case Harley? Sounds like trading time to me....
