Wheel and tire idea. What do you think?
At my age, I've found it hard to follow the trend of the 20" and larger wheels, not to mention the cost. I've seen wheel and tire combos on our trucks that cost more than the resto work. After spending some time looking and thinking, I came up with an idea for my 67 swb. I thought that a set of 15X10" steel spokes painted satin black (available from LMC, called the black Daytona) with chrome center caps and yellow lettered tires like NASCAR. Any and all opinions are welcome.

you're not alone here , i never did catch on with the big rim crowd. it just looks like too much wheel . i really dig the american racing torque thrusts.

Re: Wheel and tire idea. What do you think?
If you want 15's then go for it. Steelies and chrome moons are a timeless combo that looks good on just about anything. If you really want opinions, then I will give you mine. Those yellow lettered tires look like crap. I don't like white lettered tires, but I really don't like those with yellow letters.
Of course I'm a big inch billet fan, so what do I know...

Re: Wheel and tire idea. What do you think?
I feel the same about 20's i don't think theres anything wrong with them for those that like em there just not for me. I have a set of american racing starburst on my 99 z71 and love them on it, as for the 67 i'm planning on going with a set of 15x10's there's just something about those deep dishes and all that meat on the ground thats wicked cool to me.

Re: Wheel and tire idea. What do you think?
My white letters on the C/10 are turned to the inside. I am moving up to some 17" wheels soon. I haven't nailed down a style yet but I am going to Newstalgia wheel next week to check out their showroom. As far as what you do to your own truck goes, well..... as long as you like it, my opinion doesn't matter.

Re: Wheel and tire idea. What do you think?
You can buy those black wheels from summit much cheaper. I had some on a army green 4x4. I remeber seeing a 74 that was bright yellow and it was ugly. I'd go with some steel wheels and baby moon caps for cheaper costs.

Re: Wheel and tire idea. What do you think?
I also don't like the yellow letters, but if you like it, why not. Ralleys are nice and cheap to buy used, but if you want them to be perfect the cost can add up quick - new caps and rings from GM will give you sticker shock. If used will do, they are a great option. Since you asked for an opinion, I think moons look great on these trucks and are pretty cheap as far as rims go. I think these are members trucks..check em out:

Re: Wheel and tire idea. What do you think?
Not a big "bling" fan either. I'll be going with a set of aluminum slots I have, or buying a brand new set of white spokes. I think I'm goin to get 15x8's. Will 10" wide rims fit? I'm going with white spokes cause my truck will be blue and I think I'm gonna do the 67 inserts and headlight buckets in white.

Re: Wheel and tire idea. What do you think?
Don't like the big wheels either... Aluminum slots always look good when they are polished.
Rally wheels with nice caps and rings. Or wide steel wheels with a nice dog dish hubcap. There is my opinion...

Re: Wheel and tire idea. What do you think?
I don't like the huge wheels either, but it depends on the tire height also. I want to run some fairly tall tires, 29 to 30 tall, so we will likely use a 16 or 17 inch rim so there isn't so much heavy rubber around the outside, should handle a little better too, but if you use a 27 or 28 tall tire, I think the 15 inchers would be good, I just dont like the "rubber band" look, but think a "little" bigger wheel is ok depending on the tire height.

Re: Wheel and tire idea. What do you think?
I DON'T MUCH CARE FOR THE BIG WHEEL LOOK EITHER. ESPECIALLY WITH THE O-RING TYPE TIRES SOME PEOPLE PUT ON THEM. ABOUT FIVE DOORS DOWN FROM ME, A GUY HAS A CHERRY 68 IMPALA,BEUTIFUL PAINT WITH ALL OF THE EMBLEMS REMOVED. REALLY A GORGEOS CAR. HE HAS A SET OF 22" RIMS ON IT THAT JUST DESTROY THE FACTORY HOT ROD LOOK. I PERSONALLY DON'T CARE WHAT ANYONE DOES WITH THEIR OWN VEHICAL, BUT WHEN I SEE THOSE... WELL PUKE KINDA BACKS UP IN MY MOUTH A LITTLE. JOHN

Re: Wheel and tire idea. What do you think?
As long as they fill the wheel wells and the truck has a nice rake, nothing looks better IMO, there are so many wheels out there to choose from i can't make up my mind which I like best (like being surrounded by supermodels) but I do like ralleys, old slotted dish, Cragars, Baby Moons, the list goes on and on. Depends on the look of your particular truck, and (at least for me) BUDGET.

Hey northcountry. Have you checked out this thread?
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=143835 Lots of pics with different tires n wheels n drops. I don't care for the large diameter wheels either.

Re: Wheel and tire idea. What do you think?
16'' or 17'' are ok, TT2's, Cragers and some others. Most of the newer designs I don't care for. But a 16'' TT2 can go on mine if somebody else pays LOL!!!!!

Re: Wheel and tire idea. What do you think?
My dad has a 78 Ford 4wd and he used a set of white spokes painted black then added center caps and beauty rings. It looked really nice, was cheap and different.

Re: Wheel and tire idea. What do you think?
I have a 4x4 and think that it looks rediculious to but big rims on any 4x4. A 2wd can pull it off but I'm a timeless kinda guy and like my steelies and rallie wheels...
