Re: Pics of Progress on my 71 Blazer
Holy crap batman, I hope they weren't using that 10" converter? I'd bet a stall of around 3-4k with it?! Looks sweet, I just got my Urethane Bushings and put the 67 clip on mine, but I am aways from paint. I hope mine looks as good as yours in few years!! I am thinking Flat Black for my Blazer and the 67 CST. I got hooked on Flat Black and flames, not sure why. Anyways not Jacking the thread (if I did sorry!)

That motor is gorgeous. Very tasteful. Is that a new door that you put on the passenger side? Just curious if it is because I want to chop my door even with the sides but do not want to cut up my original rust free doors.

I got a lot of time and effort into it and I want it done right, meaning perfect, so I my outsource the final paint.

Re: Pics of Progress on my 71 Blazer
13lazer - Most 1st gen owners wouldnt dream of putting the hammer down on their blazer....
The last time i found some one with a blazer who actually wanted to go, was some spoiled girly girl whose dad and brother built the entire thing up for her. Too bad it was all show no go, the thing was gutless. Blew her doors off... ofcorse my blazer was much more quick before my lift and tires... It's just a 4 bolt 350 w/ larger valve corvette heads ( a machine shop ****ed my old heads up, and the shop owner had these nice corvetter ones he was holding on to for one of his rigs and gave them to me so he didnt have to buy me new ones. teamradrz1 - i'm in college and only wish i had so much cash to throw at my blazer! I think i may be one of the youngest Blazer owners on this forum... but i've been here for a while heh Last edited by Medicanman71; 03-02-2006 at 03:25 PM. |

Re: Pics of Progress on my 71 Blazer
***UPDATE***
Stoped by the shop today and the truck is done being sanded and is completely taken apart they did the final seam sealer sections today to cure over the weekend and should be in the paint booth Monday or Tuesday of next week! They are spraying all the jams with the truck apart then will reassemble and spray the exterior. I'm so stoked this thing could actualy be ready in a couple weeks at this rate. This has been a 6+ year restoration job and although it is not a complete frame off it's as about as close as I can do. Damn near everything has been replaced. rewired the whole truck with a painless wiring harness new fenders, cowl hood, core support new shocks, leaf springs, drivelines and braded brake lines Made an instrument cluster from several used ones I picked up to make one nice one, even rolled the odometer to 00000 new carpet, seats, door panels, dash pad. All new exterior grill, bumpers, emblems, door handles, mirrors and light lenses The only major things I'll need to finish later is front suspension(ball joints), dual exhaust and new wheels and tires.

Re: Pics of Progress on my 71 Blazer
Maybe a little explanation is in order...
the last picture where the truck was all primered I thought I was alsmost ready for paint, but I couldn't get the doors lined up so I had a body guy come out and he said someone in the past installed the outer rockers incorrectly causing the doors not to line up. So I cut them off and found more rust really broke my heart because of the setback I parked it for almost a year. Then Last spring I started working on it again and took it into the body shop to be finished and painted. That was last May the guys at the shop liked my rig so much that they asked if they could redo the entire truck I was like well I wish I could afford that but there is no way. They said no no no we'll do it for the same price $3500 we just want to really put our mark on it and do it right. So of course I was like Hell Yeah go for it! So almost a year later it is finally ready for paint and let me tell you before they took it apart the primer was so smooth and straight it looked like semi-gloss paint. they even took the natural curves on the door edges and strainghtened them so the whole truck side is damn near perfect. they are going way above and beyond what we initionally agreed on I was suppose to do do all the panel removing and re-installing and the final cut and buff to get the price down to $3500 but they decided they wanted to be responsible for the whole thing. Plus the extra two years gave me the time I needed to stock pile all the parts to put it all back together with new or looks new parts. And finaly 5 years later I'll be able to drive it this summer and go to some cruise-ins and the local wednesday night car shows at PIR (Portland International Raceway)
