hi guys, new here. I have an 86 silverado power windows. From the drivers side,I can run the passenger window up and down.but not the driver's side.
how do i check to see if its the switch or the motor. THANKS.

are you saying that you can run the passenger window from the driver's side, but not the passengers?

if so, its definetly not the motor, b/c it works from the driver's side... sounds like the switch, or a connection that has worked itself lose.

you can find switches for our trucks at any autoparts, usually in the "help" parts section for $20.00... same price you'll pay at the specialty 73-87 truck catalogs...

I think he's saying the pass side works from the d/s switch but not the driver window. Sounds like a motor to me (I had the same problem on my 85). Does the pass window work from the pass switch? Mine doesnt. I replaced my d/s motor awhile back but still need a switch for the pass side door.

Seems like you could run 12V to the plug if you pop the switch off. Maybe someone her can tell you what wire to put it to. Good luck.

I guess i'll pull the motor on the door. just thought I could test it some how to see if im getting juice to the switch. Thanks Guys!!

I would test the switch before you pull the motor. You need to take off the door panel anyway.

It's got to be the switch, because if the motor works from the drivers side switch then the motor is actually working. I'd just buy a switch, and it's a easy swap.

Does the window work from either switch? Cuz Slopwaggin just said what I was trying to. The way I read it was you couldn't get your DS window to work at all, and the Pass side did work from the DS switch. Could be my mistake.

ooops I read wrong sorry he said from drivers side the passenger window works fine but the driverside window does not which alot of times means the motor is shot on the drivers door.
