Oil Fiiler Extension Tube ??? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Does anyone know if this extension tube in the valve cover is original to these trucks? It came off of a 72 Blazer I bought for parts. I put it on my 72 4x4. Both trucks had factory AC. It sure makes adding oil a lot easier!

The tube is metal and has a brace that bolts to one of the intake bolts. I think the valve cover is also designed for the tube, as it has no notches in the filler openig for the tabs on a steel cap.

Any ideas? Thanks!!!!

I have one on my 68 I got it on ebay and I love ot it even works with My edelbrock alum. covers. Helps keep it clean...

All my 70-72 trucks had them. The 72 4x4 I sold last year had one and I know it was factory as we were the first owners

Tubes are common on buicks and old's, they twist into the existing valve cover hole and add about 6", not as good as the pictured one, but not bad.

too many, find me one of those tubes. I am getting sick of having to get a funel everytime I have to add oil

those tubes were stock on trucks with power brakes, i'm not sure which years had them but i've only seen them on 72s. all three of my 4x4s have them. i've sold a few on here and i'll post the next one i find so you guys get first shot at it.

KOOL! I was hoping it was original to the trucks! Do you know if the factory AC had anything to do with it? Before I found all the original AC brackets, I had the valve cover with the fill hole on the pass. side. That put the hole towards the front--- no problem. After I installed the AC compressor , I had to move that cover to the L side, putting the hole in the back.

If a truck didnt have factory AC , wouldnt the factory just put the cover with the fill hole on ths L. side ,thus having it towards the front?

My truck came with power brakes i didnt get one of those

, those would really come in handy being that i change my oil more often then normal. I'm going to have to watch the junkyards around here.

I went and looked at a 71 GMC 3/4 longhorn on Friday and it had the oil fill tube and power brakes, no PS. was a 350 V8. Truck wasnt worth the price he was asking....oh well.

Heres a pic of my old motor with the tube it is a 71 with power brakes. I didn't put it on the new motor, they make it easier to put the oil in with out the mess. Maybe I should rethink it and put it on.

My 69 with PS,PB,A/C did not have one. I tried using one off of a newer (mid '80) Small block but it is too short to help much.

I found a plastic spout that you can turn open and close, It helps some but you still have to find some where to store it. I just wrap it in a paper towel and stuff it next to the radiator.
