Alternatives to drop shocks? Interchange shorter shocks from another application?
My truck is getting lowered 4/6. Are there alternatives to use instead of buying drop shocks?
my truck is a 69 but has a leaf rear. They use the same shock as the 73 - 87. Anyone has any experience with substitutions from other application? Thanks in advance

Re: Alternatives to drop shocks? Interchange shorter shocks for another application?
The rear of my 74 is dropped w/a flip kit + dropped shackles. I used an off the shelf Monroe/Gabriel shock from PepBoys that was for a 73-up 4wd front.
It was the correct length (flip kit w/shock extenders) & only required pressing out the lower bushing to be able to use the original lower shock bolt. On the front you can use Monroe #33033 (or Gabriel equivalent). These are a little shorter but utilize the same dia 'eyes' on the ends.

you can buy any type of shock you want as long as it is for the right ride height and shock travel length. You need to determine those lengths then you can call some shock companies and ask them what shocks to use. I bought QA1 adjustable shocks that are generic for any vehicle.
